From Avatar's Hallelujah Mountain to Tianmen's glass skywalk. The best spots, best times, and how to capture them.
1. Yuanjiajie—Hallelujah Mountain (Avatar Peak)
The model for Pandora's floating mountains. First Bridge Under Heaven, Soul Lost Terrace, and Hallelujah Mountain are in one area. Best time: 8–10 AM (cloud sea) or after 4 PM (soft light). Take the Bailong Elevator up to save energy.
2. Tianmen Mountain
World's longest cable car (~28 min), glass skywalk, Tianmen Cave with 999 steps. Route A (cable up, bus down) recommended. Book time slot in advance. Glass skywalk: 9–10 AM photos are best when crowds are fewer.
3. Grand Canyon Glass Bridge
World's highest and longest glass bridge. 536 m, 300 m high. Skip if afraid of heights. Book time slot. Clear morning = clearest views.
4. Golden Whip Stream
Enter via Forest Park Gate. ~2 hr walk along the stream. Morning air is freshest. Winter: ice formations are special.
5. Tianzi Mountain & Ten-Mile Gallery
Tianzi: Imperial Brush Peak, Fairy Presenting Flowers. Cloud sea common. Ten-Mile Gallery: train or walk. Train one way, walk back—scenic.
6. Photo Tips
Golden hour: Sunrise/sunset and "blue hour" just before/after. Best light.
Cloud sea: Most likely after rain, early morning. Stay in Wulingyuan and enter at 7–8 AM.
Gear: Tripods may be restricted on glass skywalk and bridge. Grippy shoes essential.
